Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings

IMG_20141026_172023I love this recipe!  My mom has been making this for years and years.  Today I finally decided to make it myself!  The wings are full of flavor and the meat is so tender it falls right off the bone.  Perfect for game day or just a fun appetizer or even the main course for dinner.


Assemble your ingredients.  You will need 3 lb. bag of chicken wings, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, lemon pepper seasoning and Louisiana hot sauce.IMG_20141026_141151

Arrange all of the wings in a 9×13 pan.  It may take a bit of re-arranging but you should be able to get all of the wings into the same pan.  As they cook, more room will be created too.IMG_20141026_141755

After pouring the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice on the legs, slice up the butter and place on the chicken wings.  This is for a more rich flavor.  For a healthier dish, feel free to skip the butter.IMG_20141026_141855

Sprinkle the wings with the Louisiana hot sauce.  The amount is up to you depending on how spicy you want the wings.  Ethan and I are not big on spicy foods so I just used a fairly small amount.IMG_20141026_141945

Sprinkle the lemon pepper seasoning over the wings.  Again, the amount is up to you.  Place in the oven for 30 minutes.IMG_20141026_145025

After the first 30 minutes take the pan out of the oven and flip all of the wings over.


Baste the wings and sprinkle more hot sauce and lemon pepper seasoning.  Put back in the oven for 30 minutes.  Continue basting the chicken every 30 minutes until the liquid is almost gone.  This will usually take about 2 hours.IMG_20141026_171609

They will be done when the wings are a nice golden color and the meat starting to fall off the bones.


  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Louisiana hot sauce
  • Lemon pepper seasoning
  • 3 lbs. chicken wings
  • 1/2 stick of butter (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a 9×13 pan, arrange the wings.  It might take a little puzzle piecing to get all of them to fit in one pan.
  3. Mix the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar and pour over the wings making sure each wing gets wet from the mixture.
  4. Take the half stick of butter and cut little pats and place them on top of the wings.
  5. Shake Louisiana hot sauce over the wings.  Amount is up to you depending on how spicy you want them.
  6. Shake lemon pepper seasoning over all the wings.
  7. Place in the oven for 30 minutes.
  8. After the first 30 minutes, take out of the oven and flip the wings over.
  9. Sprinkle with more hot sauce and lemon pepper seasoning.
  10. Put back in the oven for 30 more minutes.
  11. After the next  30 minutes, take out of the oven and baste the liquid over the wings.
  12. Return to the oven and continue to baste every 30 minutes.
  13. When most of the liquid is used up, keep in the oven until the wings turn a golden color.
  14. Remove and serve with a side dish of your choosing.

Crock Pot Cheesy Potatoes

Today I am trying a new recipe that I found recently on Pinterest.  I’m a big fan of cooking in the crock pot so I was exciting to find a new recipe for it.  There was one change to the ingredient list I made.  She used onion flakes but neither Ethan nor I like onions so I skipped that ingredient completely.  Also in her directions she doesn’t explain where to add the salt and pepper so I just mixed it in with the first set of ingredients.

  • 1 – 10 3/4 oz can of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 – 32 oz frozen cubed hash browns, thawed
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese


  1. Combine the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, butter, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Add hash browns and 1 1/2 cup cheese and stir to combine.
  3. Pour into a 4 qt slow cooker, cover.
  4. Cook for 4-5 hours on low or until potatoes are tender.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over potatoes and continue to cook 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
