Day 30: Most thought-provoking movie
The end is finally here! I hope everyone enjoyed this challenge if you’ve been reading along or if you’ve been participating on your own blog. There were some days I just wanted to give up and not continue but I trudged along and did it anyway.
The most though-provoking movie I have seen would have to be Inception. I’ve always had incredibly vivid dreams so this movie hit close to home. Often I would wake up from my dreams thinking that what I saw was real. It would take me a little bit to realize that it was just a dream. So what would it be like to be able to go into other people’s dreams or go further yet into a dream within a dream… The end of the movie still haunts me in a way. Did Cobb’s totem fall or is it still spinning meaning he is still in a dream? Ahhhh! Great movie, loved everything about it.
And now this challenge is over. What you would like me to post about in the future? I’m looking for some input on post ideas!
Day 29: A movie you tell people you’ve seen but haven’t (or haven’t finished)
Hmm… I am really drawing a blank here. Usually if I don’t finish a movie I don’t say that I’ve seen it, I say I’ve seen parts of it but not the whole thing. And I don’t think I’ve ever said that I’ve seen a movie when I haven’t. So this post is kind of a bust, but oh well. Can’t win them all. But I guess in this case that’s a good thing.
So Halloween is tomorrow! What are you dressing up as this year? Every year our friends have a party at their house, usually the weekend after Halloween. I’m still debating on my costume. I’ve been dying to have a Civil War era costume but don’t have the funds for it. I have costume pieces that I could easily make a temporary Civil War era costume. I’ve also been playing around with the idea of going as Emma Swan from Once Upon A Time.
I have a jacket very similar to this and I have the necklaces that she wears. My main problem is the hair. I recently cut my hair to shoulder length and I refuse to wear a wig. So… I’m still on the fence about what I want to be.
Day 28: The first movie you bought and the format
This is going to have to be a short post. I injured my hand at work and it’s a bit painful so it’s not very comfortable to type or do anything with my right arm.
The first movie I bought was The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring on VHS! Way back when you could still buy VHS tapes at places like Target. Oh, the memories!
What was the first movie you ever bought?
Day 27: A movie you wish you could live in
I have been waiting for this day the entire challenge! I have always dreamed about what it would be like to live in this world! And I know I am not alone in my wishful thinking. I wish I lived in the world of Harry Potter!
Since the beginning I’ve been a huge Harry Potter fan. I fell in love with the books and when the movies started coming out, I fell in love with those as well. Even though it is basically the world we currently live in but with magic present, this is what I would pick for this question every time.
Attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?! SIGN ME UP!
I love all of the places like The Leaky Cauldron, Platform 9 3/4, the Hogwarts Express, Hogwarts itself, Hogsmeade, etc.
Traveling on the Hogwarts Express to school at Hogwarts!
Going to school at Hogwarts would have been so much more interesting than anything else our muggle schools have to offer! Can you imagine having a gentle, half-giant named Hagrid teaching you about the care of magical creatures?
Or having one of the most incredible Christmases of your life at the feast in the great hall! Look how gorgeous that is!
Having an incredible Christmas in the great hall!
What could be better? Of course you’d have to deal with the pesky issue of Voldemort but that’s okay! I love the world that J.K. Rowling has created in this series and want more than anything for it to be real!
If you could live in any movie, which would you choose?
Day 26: Favorite side character from a movie
So I’m going to have to do another multiple answer. Instead of ten this time I’m going to just go with five. Make it a little simpler. So here we go…
I have to go with Megan from Bridesmaids because she is hilarious! She is definitely my favorite part of that movie. Plus I already love Melissa McCarthy from her awesome role as Sookie on Gilmore Girls. I love that show
Next I’ll have to choose Legolas. He has definitely been one of my favorite characters for years.
Next we have Henry Crawford from Mansfield Park. Every time I watch this movie I still wish that he could be the good guy and end up with Fanny. But then he has to go and screw it up every time. I still love him though, even if he is a narcissistic ass.
This list wouldn’t be complete without having a character from my favorite movie so here she is! Mammy from Gone With The Wind. Such an awesome character and Hattie McDaniel did an incredible job portraying her. She ended up winning the Academy Award for this role, making her the first African American to win an Academy Award. Bravo!
And last but not least, Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games. I’m not really sure how to describe why I like Effie so much. There’s just something loveable about her.
So who are your favorite side characters?
Day 25: Favorite title of a movie
This one was so easy for me! Every time I have ever thought about what I think is the coolest movie title I always think of the same movie.
This is one of my favorite movies. Such an interesting story. Definitely makes you think about if you would have something removed from your mind if such a thing were possible. Or would you leave everything untouched and just try to forget.
Jim Carrey stars as Joel Barish, a man who is informed that his ex-girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had her memories of their relationship erased from her brain via an experimental procedure performed by Dr. Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson). Not to be outdone, Joel decides to have the same procedure done to himself. As Mierzwiak’s bumbling underlings Stan (Mark Ruffalo) and Patrick (Elijah Wood) perform the operation on Joel — over the course of an evening, in his apartment — Joel struggles in his own mind to save the memories of Clementine from being deleted.
Love, love this movie. And I love the title.
Day 23: Favorite movie you own
I think this one is going to be pretty obvious to those of you that read this blog. My absolute favorite movie is Gone With The Wind. I own three copies of the movie so that is what I’m going to share with you for this post.
First off, I have the 70th Anniversary Limited Edition. I have number 119724 of 150000 made. This copy is definitely my favorite and also why I am putting it first. It is in a gorgeous hinged box covered with a velvety type of material. The classic scene with Rhett and Scarlett on the front.
Reproductions of telegrams, memo etc. during the casting and filming.
Film discs with art postcards
CD sampler of soundtrack
Reproduction of the program from the Atlanta premiere in 1939 (I keep this framed)
So that is one copy that I own and definitely my favorite copy.
My next copy is just the regular blu-ray edition which they decided to call the Scarlet Edition.
And last but not least, the newest edition that was just released this year. The 75th Anniversary Limited Edition. Definitely not as cool at the 70th edition though.
Movie with new special features, a music box and reproduction of Rhett’s handkerchief
So those are my favorite movies that I own. What is your favorite?
Day 22: A movie you can’t get enough of
There are a few movies that I love watching over and over again. But there is one in particular that is one I keep coming back to every time. I love this movie and I never get tired of watching it.
I LOVE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED! Definitely one of my favorite movies. As I’ve said before, I’m a sucker for vampires. I love the characters. Especially Lestat.
What movie do you watch over and over and over and over, etc.?
Day 21: Your favorite childhood movie
Into the home stretch now. To be honest, I’ll be glad when this challenge is over. Even though these posts aren’t very long or important by any means, it’s been a little bit of a pain in my ass to remember to come on here everyday. I’m surprised I only missed posting once though!
So my favorite childhood movie…. This one is kind of tough for me because even today I love a bunch of the movies I grew up watching. So I will do a top 10 again.
A Kid In King Arthur’s Court
Plus you get young Kate Winslet and Daniel Craig…. WIN!
Tale as old as time….. Love this movie!
The Little Mermaid
Man of the House
The Little Princess
The Secret Garden
Ooops!!!!! I totally forgot to post yesterday for the movie challenge after I did the post about the day at the farm! Guess I’ll have to do double today!!
Day 19: Your favorite movie of all time
This one is a huge no brainer for me. GONE WITH THE WIND! I fell in love with this movie at a relatively young age at my grandmother’s house back in the days of VCRs and VHS tapes. It became a ritual. I would watch this movie everytime I went to Grandma’s. I own collectibles, photographs, posters, etc. I own 3 copies of the movie. I am a sucker for Rhett Butler.
BEST MOVIE EVER!
Day 20: A guilty pleasure movie
This one took me a little while to settle on. There are quite a few movies I like that I would consider guilty pleasures. This movie was a trilogy that in recent years added a 4th (and rumor has it a 5th and 6th in the future). They aren’t the greatest movies and certainly not the scariest. But I love them. Can you guess?
P.S. I still don’t get why they make Drew Barrymore stand out so much in the images for Scream. She was only in the very beginning! Stupid. Oh well…
So yeah, I love the Scream movies.
